An Intreo Centre which offers employment and income support services in one location will be officially launched in Athlone this week, local Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden has said.
The development of Intreo offices within Social Welfare Offices is designed to effectively engage with people who are unemployed, to provide advice, and to work with employers.
According to Deputy McFadden the service is focused on speeding up decision making, assessing the requirement of each individual jobseeker on a one-to-one basis, and delivering a ‘one-stop-shop’ from an integrated office location.
For the first time, employment and income support services are available in one location. Deputy McFadden explained that an essential element of the integrated service is enhancing links with employers on a national and local level, increasing access to opportunities for jobseekers and supporting employers with their recruitment and employment needs.
“The Intreo employment support service should play a significant role in assisting job seekers to access the necessary income and employment supports and it is positive news that this service will now be available in Athlone,” Deputy McFadden said.
“When people find themselves out of work it is important that the necessary information, advice and support is provided in a positive way so as to help people get back into the workforce as soon as possible,” she added.
