Battle of the Bands back at The Prince

February sees the return of the successful Battle of the Bands competition at The Prince Bar, Athlone. Last year’s competition saw Sligo-based band The Quakers battle their way through the heats to the grand final where a nail-biting competition on the night resulted in them taking the top prize.

Due to the success of last year’s competition, Battle of the Bands at The Prince will now be an annual event. In association with Heineken, Golden Discs, and Lakeland Studios (to name a few ), the competition invites and encourages bands from all music backgrounds and genres to compete for an enticing overall winner’s package of €8,000.

Bands will be judged based on a number of different criteria - musical performance, stage presence, originality, and offers bands the opportunity to showcase original music in Athlone’s most popular weekend live music venue. Each band will have 45-minute slots on the night of their heat.

All participants must be over 18, and be free to play on the night of their heat, the night of the semi-final, and final night if they progress to this stage.

The first heat will be on February 27 at 10pm with the grand final scheduled for May 2.
