Athlone Credit Union Limited will hold its 47th annual general meeting on Monday December 30 at 8pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone.
Speaking ahead of the meeting chairman Anthony Mannion said, “While this year has proven challenging for the credit union sector, I am happy to report on another solid year of performance for Athlone Credit Union. We have shown our commitment to the community by opening a new branch in Monksland which is now open five days a week.”
Mr Mannion said that the board would be proposing a 1 per cent dividend on shares and that owing to recent changes in the 2014 Finance Bill that this was the last year that members could elect to have their dividend without DIRT being deducted at source. He urged those members who are exempt from DIRT by virtue of their age or circumstances to contact the local Revenue offices to make sure that they have the correct documentation completed to ensure the recovery of any DIRT where it is applied now or going forward in future years.
Mr Mannion also urged any member who has relevant experience or expertise and who feels that they can make a contribution to the credit union’s future development to contact the chairman of the nomination committee Mark Grenham in advance of the AGM to ensure that their nomination can be processed in good time.
