Members of National Children’s Choir perform in Athlone Towncentre

As the Christmas shopping frenzy draws to a close for another year, Athlone Towncentre will be serving up a real treat for shoppers this weekend.

On Saturday afternoon over 100 children from the National Children’s Choir will take to the malls to get shoppers into the festive spirit with a fantastic mix of Christmas carols and other festive favorites. This performance follows hot on the heels of other outstanding performances in the run up to Christmas from Groveland’s Childcare and St Mary’s Youth Ministry. The final choral performance prior to Christmas will be the honour of students from Scoil na gCeithre Maistri in Athlone who will perform various Christmas classics in Athlone Towncentre on Monday morning.

Adding another community dimension to Athlone Towncentre this weekend will be members and friends of the South Westmeath Hospice who will be providing a gift wrapping service opposite the Santa Grotto on the Mardyke Street mall. All proceeds from this collection will go directly to supporting the provision of hospice services in the town and will add to the €2,500 already collected through Athlone Towncentre on the day of Santa’s arrival to the centre.
