House rental prices are continuing to rise slowly in Westmeath and across the Midlands, according to the latest report from property website Daft.ie
The Daft rental report for the third quarter of 2013 reveals that average rents increased by 1.5 per cent in Westmeath over the past year.
The trend is similar across the Midlands, with rents rising by 0.9 per cent in Longford, 0.8 per cent in Offaly, 2.2 per cent in Laois, and 0.6 per cent in Roscommon over the past year.
The average rent for a house now stands at €577 per month in Westmeath, €560 in Offaly, €541 in Laois, €539 in Roscommon, and a significantly lower €437 in Longford.
Nationally, rents were 4.8 per cent higher on average in the third quarter of 2013 than a year previously, and 2.1 per cent higher than the previous quarter. This represents the fifth consecutive quarterly rise in rent prices.
