The recent announcement relating to Newbridge Credit Union has no impact on the performance of Athlone Credit Union as every credit union is financially independent, that is according to chairman of Athlone Credit Union, Anthony Mannion.
Mr Mannion sought to reassure shareholders this week after Newbridge Credit Union got into serious financial difficulties. “I want to confirm to our many members that Athlone Credit Union has sound finances, and that their money is safe in our hands,” he explained. “We have a committed and professional team led by Mick Dillon our CEO and Catherine Egan our manager who along with our staff are on hand to assist members with any queries that they may have at this time.”
Mr Mannion said that Athlone Credit Union remains a strong, secure financial co-operative which continues to offer members a secure place for their savings and access to low cost loans and will continue to operate in a prudent manner in the best interests of all its members.
