First 2-WD Honda CR-V arrives this month

The new Honda CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC will arrive in Ireland this month (October 21 ) priced from €31,995, and with CO2 from 119g/km.

The CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC should take Honda into the high-volume end of the SUV market. This is that first time a two-wheel-drive CR-V has been sold here, and it will be the second application of its Earth Dreams Technology 1.6 i-DTEC Diesel engine. Having driven the engine fitted to the new Civic, it should deliver great potential in the CR-V.

The new CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC also leads its class for load space and emissions with 119g/km.

New Civic Tourer

Other news from Honda includes the new Civic Tourer, with class-leading load volume and CO2 as low as 99g/km when it arrives in Ireland in early 2014. It attracted attention at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, as did the Civic Type R which will go on sale in 2015.

It has now been confirmed that the Civic Type R will be powered by a 2.0 litre direct injection turbo charged engine producing ‘at least’ 280 bhp.

On the technology front, Frankfurt has also seen the launch of a range of new active safety features under Honda’s advanced driver assist systems. These will arrive on the Civic Tourer and hatchback from early 2014, and include city-brake active system, cross traffic monitor, forward collision warning, blind spot information, traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning. These will supplement existing features of collision mitigation braking system and adaptive cruise control.
