Dramatic story telling workshop at Mullingar Arts Centre

Writer and casting director Nick McGinley has announced he’s bringing his dramatic story telling workshop to the Mullingar Arts Centre this October.

The workshop is aimed at teenagers aged 14-19 and will run for six weeks starting October 13 from 2.30-4pm and will cost €35.

Nick McGinley is a writer, casting director, and VO artist based in Mullingar. He has been casting director on Irish features (Kisses, The Other Side of Sleep, Dollhouse, Life’s a Breeze )

Nick studied drama in Trinity College Dublin and Film production in Dublin Institute of Technology. Coming from a performance and writing background, (Mutual Trust Assurance shortlisted for RTÉ’s PJ O’Connor Radio Drama Awards 2006, won Spirit of the Unfringed Festival for comedy sketch show Hoarse Throat Soothers in Limerick February 2008 ), Nick is actor-centric and strives for an informal, warm approach to the audition process.

Through comedy, games and improvisations, Nick will encourage students to tell their own stories, which he’ll weave into a coherent play to be performed by the students at the end of the course. This dramatic story telling workshop is designed to give the students confidence, allow them to access their own creativity, write immediately in the way they speak and help them perform their own stories.

Numbers for the workshop are limited so phone the Mullingar Arts Centre today on (044 ) 9347777 to ensure your place.
