Irish speakers invited to world record attempt

On Sunday September 29 Athlone Community Radio’s Irish Language programme Inniu, Inné, Amárach will be participating in an Irish language World Record attempt.

Taking place from 8-10pm, the two hour show which will be live on radio and webcam is part of Comhrá 24/7 and is one of the highlights of the 2013 Bliain na Gaeilge. The aim of Comhrá 24/7 is to create a week-long Irish conversation involving Irish speakers in Ireland and from all across the globe. Each group will be linked by webcam with the cúpla focail starting on Sunday September 29 and running until Sunday October 6. Conradh na Gaeilge, which celebrates its 120th anniversary this year is helping co-oordinate this feat along with 2013 Bliain na Gaeilge. Further details can be found on www.cnag.ie and www.gaeilge2013.ie

Eugene McGivern producer and presenter of Inniu, Inné, Amárach has said, “Is seans iontach é seo chun an Gaeilge agus go mór an Gaeilge atá againne in Áth Luain a chuir chun chinn. Is píosa spraoi é seo freisin agus ba bhreá liom cuireadh a thabhairt do Gaelgóirí Átha Luain teacht isteach agus bheith páirteacht ar an oíche.”

Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm is looking for young and old to participate so if you are interested please contact the station on (090 ) 6490722 before Wednesday September 25.
