Pat McCabe to give first reading at literary fest

Acclaimed Irish novelist, storyteller, and playwright Pat McCabe will host a special evening of conversation and readings at this year’s Athlone Literary Festival.

The Man Booker Prize nominee and Irish Times/Aer Lingus award winner will also give the first reading of his new book, Hello Mr Bones, Goodbye Mr Rat at the festival this October. Hot off the press, Hello Mr Bones will hit the shelves just one week before Pat’s appearance at Athlone Literary Festival on Friday October 4.

The author of The Butcher Boy, Breakfast On Pluto, and Emerald Germs of Ireland will discuss writing, his career, and the inspirations for his uniquely neurotic and imaginative stories. Pat’s last book, Winterwood, was the 2007 Hughes & Hughes/Irish Independent Novel of the Year.

Spend an evening in the company of one of Ireland’s rarest talents and entertainers and join Pat at 8pm in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel on Friday October 4. This will be followed by a cheese and wine reception. Cost of entry is €10.
