In a rare, not-to-be-missed collaboration, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Heathers will perform live at Wineport Lodge in Glasson on Wednesday September 4. The unique event will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a five-course dinner in The Restaurant and the one-night-only performance by two of the country’s most gifted acts. The concert will include a beautiful collection of songs and melodies as these talented artists perform live together in this unique setting.
Maria Doyle Kennedy released her fifth solo album last year. Entitled Sing, the album was written and recorded with long-term music partner Kieran Kennedy - who will accompany Maria in Wineport Lodge. A richly imagined record, Sing draws on flamenco rhythms, avant-rock, Celtic, Mediterranean, and Appalachian airs. Featuring 10 meticulously crafted songs, Sing is a subtle but powerful record.
Heathers are twin sisters Ellie and Louise Macnamara from Dublin. Last year they recorded their second album Kingdom with producer Max Dingel (White Lies ) and signed a global deal with Universal Music Publishing UK. Their non-stop rise, in Ireland and internationally, continues apace this year and they have signed a deal with Warner Music Germany. This follows the girls’ recent signing to Sony Music Canada and is part of their campaign to release Kingdom worldwide.
They have experienced tremendous success in film and television, with ‘Forget Me Knots’, along with the highly evocative ‘Listen Don’t Speak’, both of which featured in 90210 in the US. This followed other placements on US TV show Mob Wives, as well as The Voice, X Factor, Waterloo Road, and various others in the UK. Earlier this year, Heathers were invited to perform for Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams at the Oscar party of the Hollywood director in Santa Monica. The girls’ writing credentials are increasingly sought after, with projects in process with David Guetta and Disney.
