Moate Agricultural Show will once again take place in Brown’s field on Saturday August 24.
This year the show will include a Queen of the Show competition. At the recent launch of the show chairman, Pauric McNeill said, “I hope we have a great show for our Gathering year, along with the AB Oil All Ireland Filly Foal Final, we have many new events this year, including, the Queen of the Show kindly sponsored by Newbridge Silverware, Digan’s Londis Chocolate cook of the year, and in addition to our popular dog show we will have dog obedience training by Carna Dog Agility.”
This year’s show has extra classes in the cookery, craft, cattle, and pony jumping sections. Other classes include horse and pony showing, farm produce, flower arrangements, photography, sheep, and poultry. There will be a bouncing castle, face painting, slides, and lots of children’s entertainment.
Visitors to the show can visit the many trade stands including food and refreshments and marquees with arts and crafts exhibitions. The show committee would like to thank local Schools for their continued support and large entries each year.
The Queen of the Show candidates will be selected by a group of judges and a Queen will be crowned on the day. The newly crowned Queen will be presented with a tiara, sash, and Newbridge jewellery, sponsored by John Galvin, Main Street, Moate.
The show will play host to the qualifier for the yearling filly all-Ireland championship, the traditional Irish sport horse foal, and many other qualifiers including the gain colt foal all-Ireland championship, the qualifiers for the Irish draught colt foal championship and the Irish draught filly foal championship for the Ballinasloe Show.
The popular dog show and the all-Ireland gun dog championship will take place along with the qualifier for the Gain Dog Food all-Ireland championship.
Show goers can enjoy the day to the wonderful sounds of live music by local bands that will play right throughout the day.
A free shuttle bus to and from the show will be in operation courtsey of Rohan Transport.
