^Bestselling author and TV personality Amanda Brunker was on the lookout for the most stylish ladies enjoying the glorious sunshine at the Littlewoods Ireland Best Dressed Lady contest at Kilbeggan Racecourse last Saturday.
The winner on the day was Kathy Purcell from Kilkenny. Kathy wore a stunning brown vintage Clevein dress which she had borrowed from her sister’s vintage shop, Hello Again, in Kilkenny. She complemented her outfit with a matching headpiece and bag which she borrowed from her aunt, both of which were vintage 1940 pieces. Kathy has been a fan of vintage style for years and had put a lot of thought into her outfit in preparation for the day. She said “I’m absolutely over the moon and so surprised to be chosen as the winner. The atmosphere was amazing on the day and such a buzz. The standard of the outfits at the races was really high and I was delighted to be chosen as the winner.”
Kathy won a €1,500 shopping spree with Littlewoods Ireland, while the nine finalists received a €100 shopping voucher. The finalists included Kate Bruton, Mullingar;
Emma Connaughton, Roscommon; Rose O’Shaughnessy, Athlone; and Breege Kiernan, Dysart, Mullingar.
Speaking after the event, judge Amanda Brunker said “It was a tough choice to pick a winner but I loved Kathy Purcell’s style. It was a very complete look. She was able to explain the thought behind every item from her bag to her hat to her pearls.”
Racecourse manager Paddy Dunican said “The Littlewoods Ireland Ladies Day here at Kilbeggan continues to grow in popularity and the turnout today made it the biggest meet of the year so far. It was great to have Amanda here and Kathy was a lovely winner.”
