It’s nearly time for The Marquee in Drumlish

Made famous in song by local Irish country star, Declan Nerney, The Marquee in Drumlish has been revived in recent years and features the best Ireland has to offer in musical talent.

Now in its fourth year, The Marquee in Drumlish has continued to grow from strength to strength.

This year sees an exciting mix of talent come to the Longford town with award winning Delorentos, the return of local legend Declan Nerney, and everyone’s favourite Sharon Shannon take to the stage of three days.

Last year saw a sell-out crowd of over 3,000 people descend on the small village of Drumlish for one of Ireland’s best small festivals. The fun starts during the day with family fun day and monster bingo before some of the best live bands in Ireland take to The Marquee stage each night.

This year promises to be even bigger and better so why don’t you treat yourself and come along from August 16-18.

On Friday August 16 Delorentos take to the stage followed by DJ Fergal D’Arcy. Saturday August 17 promises to be a great day out for young and old alike. Family fun day starts at 2pm in the grounds of the local football club at Monaduff; there will be bouncy castles, face painting, music, dog show, penalty shoot out, football blitzes with visiting teams from other parishes, and plenty of fun and games for the kids.

The Marquee goes country on Saturday night with one of Ireland’s most popular country singers Nathan Carter headlining four hours of dancing.

The man responsible for making ‘The Marquee in Drumlish’ song the worldwide hit it is, Declan Nerney, will be the highlight of Saturday night.

Eyes down and pens at the ready for the monster bingo in the 98 Hall, Ballinamuck on Sunday August 18 at 3pm.

Performing since the age of eight, Sharon Shannon is one the true treasures of the Irish music industry with a talent that is as delightful as it is rare. She’ll be sharing the bill on Sunday night with Offaly’s very own Mundy.

It has become somewhat of a Marquee ritual that local band The Aftermath close the festival with their unique mix of original material and chart covers in what is always a festival highlight.

Sunday night of 2013’s festival is no different and as anyone who has been to an Aftermath gig will tell you, it’s a night full of surprises - you just never know who might join them on stage!
