A local group representing Midlands Simon are hoping to increase awareness around the issue of homelessness by holding a ‘Sleep out for Simon’ in Kilmartins N6 Service Station tonight, Friday July 12.
The group of individuals from all walks of life have one common vision - to end homelessness. The group will sleep out in the forecourt of Kilmartins N6 Service Station on Friday July 12 from 9pm until 9am tomorrow morning, in order to raise funds and awareness for the Midlands Simon Community.
This is the second year that Kilmartins N6 have agreed to host the ‘sleep out’. People can sponsor the sleep out by calling Declan on (085 ) 7288010, or by sponsoring the event online on their MyCharity.ie page at http://www.mycharity.ie/event/sleepoutforsimon/
It is also an opportunity for people to show their solidarity with those who have experienced homelessness in Athlone and the Midlands.
CEO of Midlands Simon, Tony O’Riordan, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers involved and to Damian and Rachael Kilmartin for their support in facilitating the sleep out.
Midlands Simon Community provide essential ongoing supports and care to those affected by homelessness across the Midlands. Since 2006 they have supported over 950 people.
