Midlands 103 hosts Business After Hours in Athlone Towncentre

Athlone Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event took place last week in Athlone Towncentre. Albert Fitzgerald, MD of Midlands 103, hosted the event in conjunction with Athlone Towncentre.

Albert said Athlone Towncentre has provided the ideal location for Midlands 103 to position their newest and one of Ireland’s most technologically modern outside broadcasting units.

The establishment of the broadcasting pod in Athlone is part of an overall strategy by Midlands 103 to have a broadcasting presence in the major urban centres within the region the station serves.

He expressed his delight at having the facility available in Athlone which will now be utilised by broadcasting live shows such as Midlands Today, the station’s award-winning flagship programme and the afternoon show with Athlone’s Roy Jenning. The new facility will also be used for recording and editing news and sports items as well as pre-recorded programming.

“This is a great opportunity for us to serve the community in which we enjoy great listenership. We really appreciate the support given to us throughout the community and expect that we will now be in a position to provide an even greater service in return, with this, our latest development at Midlands 103.” Albert also spoke about the radio’s new mobile broadcasting unit which is launching this summer and will be attending various outdoor events beginning this summer.

The Athlone Advertiser said that while all businesses were going through tough times they appreciated the ongoing support of businesses and people in the community.

The manager from Golden Spiderweb clothes shop spoke about their retail range and the quality of their clothes on offer and enthused that the brand was accessible to all types of customers.

John McGrath, president of Athlone Chamber of Commerce said the Business After Hours was a great platform for businesses and people to network and exchange ideas and said that he would hope to hold a monthly Business After Hours event going forward.
