National Music Day was celebrated in great traditional style last week at Áras an Mhuilinn, Mullingar with a preview of the summer seisiún show. First seisiún show of the 2013 summer season will start on Wednesday night July 3 at 8.30pm and continues every Wednesday night in July as well as on August 7 and 21.
Seisiún Áras an Mhuilinn offers a unique audience experience for Irish locals and visitors - a real taste of our cultural talent. An authentic show of Irish music, song, dance, and stories, concluding with an informal session that visitors regularly contribute to. Ceol agus craic! Bígí linn ag seisiún CCÉ. Seisiún provides a unique entertainment experience as it features the authentic traditional entertainment as enjoyed by generations of Irish people. It is one of the longest-running summer shows of its kind and guest feedback is always overwhelmingly positive.
This Comhaltas show entertains its audiences with a variety Irish traditional music, song, and dance which is followed by a cup of tea or coffee and homemade produce. The evening concludes with an informal traditional session where the visitors are encouraged to participate if they so wish. During this part of the night audiences can join in dances such as the Siege of Ennis and the Walls of Limerick or sing a song or two. Visiting artists are also welcome to perform.
Seisiún Áras an Mhuilinn will feature artists from the Midland counties of Westmeath, Offaly, Longford, and Laois. Entry fee at €10 and concessions are available for groups booking in advance.
