Cllr John Naughten has called on Roscommon County Council to carry out works to improve the condition of the Clonown to Athlone road describing it as a “traffic hazard that needs to be addressed urgently”.
The councillor will raise the issue as a motion before the next meeting of Roscommon County Council - seeking improvement works on the road, a section of which is currently reduced to one lane.
“This situation has been ongoing for a long period of time and I have received a significant number of representations from residents in the area regarding the safety aspect of having the road reduced to a single lane,” stated Cllr Naughten. “This is made worse during the winter months in particular when the area is subject to flooding.
“I will be raising this matter at the next meeting of the council and seeking to have the issue addressed in the interest of the safety of those using this road,” he concluded.
