Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre is delighted to announce it has moved to a bigger centre in Main Street, Ballinasloe. The premises is located over what was formely the National Irish Bank building, with an entrance beside John Dolan auctioneers.
Founded in March 2010, the Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre is a free and confidential service for those diagnosed with cancer and their families. It includes a drop-in centre, counselling, reflexology, acupuncture, holistic massage therapy, and bereavement counselling support. The centre is also committed to providing ongoing information and education on topics relating to cancer and has a list of publications, booklets, and pamphlets available on the various forms of cancer.
The committee wishes to thank Ballinasloe Developments for letting them have the large premises rent-free, and FÁS under its manager Billy Warde for redecorating and getting the premises ready to use within a short period of time.
Since its foundation, the company has provided help and support to many people, not just from Ballinasloe but from Athlone, north and east Galway, south Roscommon, and north Offaly. This new premises will allow the team to continue to meet the ever increasing numbers of cancer sufferers at a very difficult time in their lives.
The committee would welcome more volunteers and therapists to staff the premises on an ongoing basis, as well as people to organise fundraising events.
