Fifteen local people who have written poetry, some of them volunteers and staff with Athlone Community Radio share their poetry during For Arts Sake on Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm. Each Wednesday between 6-7pm they bring you a new poet reciting their own piece.
The 15 poetry slots are made with the support of the Sound and Vision Broadcasting Scheme, a Broadcasting Authority of Ireland initiative. They are produced by Alan Meaney, edited by Joe Kelly, with sound by Heidar Al Hashimi. Repeats are every Saturday from 2.30-3.30pm starting on Saturday May 25.
The exclusivity of this project is that it is recorded by Athlone Community Radio so each week you can share in the thoughts and dreams of these amateur poets.
Carmel Feeney features on Wednesday’s first broadcast, with Eugene McGivern on May 29, Linda Jo Quinn on June 5, Jinny Fallon on June 12, Jason Gill on June 19, Claire Lydon on June 26, Alex Jocher on July 3, Shane McLoughlin on July 10, Aoife Doolan July 17, Ursula Ledwith on July 24, Seamus McKenna on July 31, Catherine Ivers on August 7, Noreen O’Rourke on August 14, Amanda Gunning on August 21, and Helga Rasfeldmings on August 28.
