The Stunning to headline Helium festival

One of the most successful Irish bands ever, The Stunning are set to steal the show at Helium 2013. The multi-award winning Helium Festival is delighted to confirm that The Stunning will indeed headline the 2013 festival in Ballymahon on June 8.

In the seven years that The Stunning were initially together, they toured relentlessly building up a following that would make them one of the most successful Irish bands in recent history.

In 1990 their debut album Paradise In The Picturehouse spent five weeks at number one and became one of the most-loved Irish albums of all time. Two years later, the follow-up Once Around The World also hit the number one spot, and the band went on to sell over 100,000 albums in Ireland alone. ’Brewing Up A Storm’ has become an anthem of sorts and is to be heard everywhere from football stadiums to clubs around the country and soon it will ring out from the Main Stage of Helium 2013 where it still guarantees to lift the crowd!

Songs such as ’Half Past Two’, ‘Romeo’s on Fire’, and ’Everything that Rises’ are still to be heard on the radio and have been featured in movies and numerous compilation albums of the best of Irish rock. They toured the US and the UK with the likes of Bob Dylan and the B-52s. During their time, the band scooped every music prize and award going and they were rarely off the airwaves.

The Stunning will join a slew of other acts already confirmed to take to the three stages of Helium, including the likes of Mick Flannery, Fight Like Apes, Wallis Bird, Hermitage Green, KILA, O Emperor, Kopek, David Kitt, and Mark Geary.

And that’s not all... the one-day Longford music festival will also see Windings, The Ambience Affair, Liza Flume, Amazing Apples, Shannon & The Shortcuts, Drew de Four, and Felix Sonnyboy Wilson performing among a number of other acts.

Lured in by the affordable ticket price and the great value package on offer, music lovers are treated to a fantastic line-up over three stages, free BBQ food, free parking, and free access to the spacious nearby camping facilities.

And back by popular demand, the added element of fun with the Ballymahon Traders Association event - the Helium 5/10km Challenge - will get everyone working up a sweat on the morning of June 8 to fundraise even more for the great cause that is Ataxia Ireland!
