One of the aims of the Roscommon Lamb Festival is to highlight the many amenities available in County Roscommon. This year’s festival will be running a two-day fishing competition and a kayaking event to highlight Roscommon’s wonderful water sport facilities.
A fishing competition will take place on Sunday and Monday May 5 and 6 on the river Suck, adjacent to Donamon Castle. The draw for this event is at 9am sharp at the fishing bays in Donamon. The entry fee for the two days is €40 for adults and €20 for juniors, all entries paid out and €400 will be added to the overall prize. Entries are limited to 20 pegs so get yours in quick! This bumper two-day event was a huge success last year. It is open to participants of all ages and abilities. To book your place, contact Bill Cassidy on (086 ) 3356759 or Shane Dunne on (087 ) 9337637.
The organisers are delighted to have again on the programme a water sports event in conjunction with Portrun Kayaking Club. This event has expanded from kayaking to include paddleboarding, sit-on kayaking, and Canadian canoeing. Come along, try something new, take advantage of the excellent facilities, and enjoy the atmosphere in Portrunny Bay on Sunday May 5 at 11am. Don’t forget your wetsuits! This event is free for novices.
