A night of dancing and fundraising planned for local GAA clubs

St Josephs Football Club and Bealnamulla Ladies Football Club have come up with a fun way to raise valuable funding for their clubs. Strictly Fun Dancing was launched this week - where 14 couples from across Athlone are currently being put through their paces for 10 weeks of gruelling dance lessons of modern ballroom and Latin American dance. Each couple will dance the modern ballroom quickstep, foxtrot, and a jive, taught by professional teacher Lukas Mierzwa to hopefully make a great night’s entertainment for all and a fundraising success.

The Strictly Fun Dancing night will be held on Friday April 26 in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland starting at 7.30pm. Celebrity judges on the night include author and former politician Mary O’Rourke; Rachel Hardiman of Shannonside Radio; and Joe McCarrick, of the RTÉ Drama Festival. MC on the night is Cathal Durney.

Judges’ opinions will make up only 50 per cent of the votes with the other 50 per cent down to the audience on the night. A voting system will be in place, where votes can be bought for your favourite couple at €2 per vote.

Tickets are now on sale for the event at €20 and are available from the Athlone Springs. Tickets are limited so grab yours today, to be guaranteed a great night of laughter and craic!
