Rosemount Amateur Drama Society are currently getting ready to take to the stage on Good Friday, March 29 for their production of The Man From Clare by John B Keane.
The play is a touching portrait of an ageing football star, Padraic, who is past his sporting prime. His progress toward a new stage of life pits him against his self-centred coach, Daigan, and a talented upstart player, Jim Flynn. Football has left no room for women in Padraic’s life, but a sudden opportunity to change that arrives in the form of a shy housekeeper called Nellie.
Amid rueful reflections, romance, brawls, song, and beer, the play proves to be a charming portrait of the sacrifices made on the way to fulfillment. This play is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever had a dream that they had to let go of. Produced by Jackie Madden, this year’s cast sees some familiar faces and also some new. They will perform in Rosemount Community Centre on Friday March 29 and Sunday March 31. The performance then moves to Moate to Tuar Ard where they will perform for five nights from Wednesday April 3 to Sunday April 7 at 8.30pm. Tickets can be booked for Tuar Ard by calling (090 ) 6482042.
