There is still time to vote for an Athlone student’s doodle to win this year’s Doodle 4 Google competition.
A doodle by Gráinne White from Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone is one of the finalists in the fifth annual Doodle 4 Google competition. Her drawing, entitled ‘Work of heart’ depicts the “machine of invention”, in keeping with this year’s theme ‘My invention’.
“My invention is the machine of invention itself. It has a backbone of steel, self-confidence. It has a heart, a great love for inventing. It has energy, where all inventions come from. It visualises success on the horizon. It communicates its ideas to other inspiring people with its mouth,” says Gráinne of her doodle.
Two other Westmeath students are also finalists: Kayla Carey from St Mary’s NS, Raharney, and Annie Rodgers from St Brigid’s NS, Mullingar. The three Westmeath students are among 75 Irish students in with a chance of having their doodle displayed on the Google Ireland homepage.
The five most popular doodles, one from each of five age categories, will go forward to the final where one of Google’s professional doodlers will select the overall winner.
