The Mullingar Arts Centre, in another community outreach programme, is about to give a group of talented local students the opportunity to strut their stuff - not on the stage, but behind-the-scenes, in a directorial capacity.
Following on from the enormous success of the young directors initiative last year, application forms are available from the arts centre. Closing date for entries will be Friday February 15, and the young directors will present their plays on Friday April 26.
Sean Lynch, director of the arts centre, said: “This is a terrific opportunity for students who might have an interest in fulfilling a directorial role in the theatre. They are offered the opportunity to take a dramatic work off the printed page and craft a theatrical production in its entirety; from casting, through rehearsals, to performance on the stage at the Mullingar Arts Centre.”
So, if you think you have what it takes, why not call into the arts centre and pick up an application. You might just discover your niche; it might open up a whole new world for you!
