Roscommon and Mayo share spoils in FBD clash

Roscommon 0-10

Mayo 1-07

With nothing but the bragging rights at stake in this FBD clash, Roscommon have most reason to feel they deserved to claim the spoils. It took two late converted frees from the boot of Alan Murphy to snatch a draw for last year’s beaten All-Ireland finalists.

James Horan had nine of his starting All-Ireland side on show and he is sure to be concerned about the sloppiness of their performance more than the actual result. New Roscommon boss John Evans will be impressed with the defensive side of his team’s display particularly in the second half. Like his Mayo counterpart he will however be looking for greater efficiency up front when the league campaign begins on Sunday week.

Mayo welcome Kerry to Castlebar in their opening game in division 1 while Roscommon take on Sligo in division 3 on Sunday week.
