Athlone audiences are in a for a treat when Athlone Film Club presents the poignant and charming French comedy, Delicacy on Tuesday January 15 at 8pm in the Dean Crowe Theatre.
Delicacy stars Audrey Tautou (of Amelie fame ) as a perky creative management type whose idyllic life crumbles when she finds herself suddenly widowed after three years married to her soulmate. Her zest for life is rediscovered when two work colleagues present themselves as unlikely romantic candidates.
Beautifully written and perfectly pitched, this emotionally engaging French comedy-drama is a small bittersweet romance about getting over the loss of a loved one.
Delicacy ambitiously blends several different tones and somehow pulls it off, thanks to confident direction, a sharp script and superb performances from Audrey Tautou and Francois Damiens. This gem of a film is unmissable.
So for a bright start to the new year come along to the Dean Crowe Theatre on Tuesday January 15. There will be complimentary wine in the theatre bar at 7.30pm prior to the film’s screening.
