The new Ford Ka has a higher specification and an entry price of €11,535 ex-works for the Style 1.2 (69 bhp ) 3-door. Ford points out that that is some €800 below that of the outgoing model. The saving comes despite a high level of specification, in tune with the Ka’s promise of fun, fashionable motoring. The entry level new Ka diesel engined Style 1.3 TDCi (75 bhp ), 3-door sells at €13,320 ex-works.
Set to go on sale before Christmas, Ford’s sparkling new baby is available in two series, Style and Titanium. Both come in a choice of 1.2 Duratec petrol and 1.3 Duratorq TDCi diesel engines, delivering 69 bhp and 75 bhp respectively. All Ka models fall within the lowest tax band A, meaning road tax is €104 per year.
Despite the low price tag, Ford says that the Ka Style does not skimp on features. Bound to attract the active young driver are the alluring alloy wheels and front foglights, as well as the MP3 connectivity and 4-speaker radio CD. Ford’s acclaimed Intelligent Protection System is standard, with driver and passenger airbags, as is anti-lock braking.
The Ka Titanium contains a feature list befitting a much bigger and more expensive car, with air conditioning, electric windows, heated electric mirrors and remote central locking all standard. The bodycolour exterior rounds off the Titanium offering.
