The Foot Clinic has recently commenced at McGorisks Pharmacy, Athlone Towncentre and Molloys Pharmacy, Roscommon and is run by foot care practitioner Catriona Byrne, DIPCHFP, MSPRACT. The practice is fully registered and insured.
Treatments available cover toenail conditions, verrucae, corns, callus, athletes foot, and toenail cutting; diabetic footcare management; fallen arches/ flat feet, knock knees, and gait abnormality; and general foot pain – orthotics assessment and prescription.
The service includes the full range of chiropody treatments but the practice will focus not only on foot treatment but also on preventative and corrective measures also.
In addition to a full chiropody service, a biomechanical assessment service is also provided. This assessment analyses walking patterns, and in turn orthotic supports may be recommended together with an exercise programme which can greatly assist with general foot, knee, and back pain.
The clinic also stocks a range of competitively priced products to assist with the many associated foot problems that may occur, such as fallen arches, ankle pain, hammer toes, callused feet, painful bunions, etc. Many of these orthotics can greatly assist with ankle, foot, knee, hip, and back pain.
Treatment for a range of sports-related injuries including tendonitis, plantar fascitis, and heel spurs is also provided by combining exercise plans with corrective orthotic support insoles. Customised supports are also available on request. Both adults and children are catered for and prices start from €25.
