The midlands branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD ) is pleased to announce details of an upcoming event: Social Media 101 for HR. This event, which is kindly sponsored by Vhi Healthcare and the Athlone Springs Hotel, will take place in the Athlone Springs Hotel at 5.30pm on Wednesday November 21. There will be a networking opportunity at the start followed by the speaker commencing at 6pm sharp.
This is the second public event in an exciting programme of events for 2012/2013 provided by the CIPD Midlands Region Committee. The overriding theme throughout the 2012/2013 programme of events will focus on HR - Bringing Business Forward.
This event will explore the area of social media and how HR professionals can best make use of it. The event will be very much interactive in nature and will include how to develop a social media strategy and how to get the most out of LinkedIn, eg building your profile, using groups, building your network. It will also show how to source candidates and leads for your business. The speakers on the evening will be Tom Ryan, chairman, CIPD Midlands Committee, and Declan Fitzgerald, CEO Recruitovate.
Declan Fitzgerald has over 15 years HR and recruitment experience including roles such as the head of international recruitment for LinkedIn. Before that he was a global sourcing manager for Microsoft and a HR Manager for an Irish start-up called Vordel. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (FCIPD ) and holds an MSc in Business from University College Dublin’s (UCD ) Michael Smurfit Business School.
Declan is the owner of a HR and technology consultancy called Recruitovate.com that offers innovative sourcing, branding, and social media training solutions. He is the creator of two of Ireland’s largest HR LinkedIn groups: Irish Recruiters which has 3,000+ members and Human Resources Ireland which has 2,000+ members.
