‘A Song for Simon’ now open for entries

Midlands Simon Community are delighted to announce that the first annual ‘A Song for Simon’ songwriting contest is now accepting entries for 2013.

Submissions will be accepted from now until December 14. Boasting an impressive prize package, this is one song contest you cannot afford to miss! This is the perfect opportunity for both budding artists and seasoned professionals to get your original piece out there, whatever your style, genre, or age.

The following prize package is on offer to the overall winner:

One day recording in Grouse Lodge Studios, Moate

Mastering of the winning song by RMC Recording Studios

CD duplication (100 jewel encrusted CDs ) by MD Online

Full music video production by Big Idea Films

A photo-shoot by RUA Photography

Graphic design and artwork by SNAP Printing Athlone

Guaranteed promotion, airplay, and interviews with Midlands 103

The winner’s song will also be aired on Midlands Simon Community’s website upon its launch.

Entries will be narrowed down to a final 10, who will perform live at ‘A Song For Simon’ in the Sheraton Athlone, on January 12. The judging panel will consist of June Carley, Midlands 103; Keith Johnson, director of marketing and membership IMRO; Fiona Killeen, marketing and event production, Grouse Lodge Studios; and Tom Keady, Midlands Simon Community.

All of the finalists will feature on the ‘A Song for Simon’ album to be launched in 2013.

Speaking at the launch of the competition, CEO of Midlands Simon, Tony O’Riordan, said, “We are very excited to be launching ‘A Song for Simon’, and would like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors for making this contest possible. We would also like to give a special thank you to Colin Fahy, whose expertise has been instrumental in bringing the song contest to fruition.”
