Westmeath carer wins ‘Dear George’ competition

Drumraney woman Peggy Allen was delighted to receive a call from George Hook recently after she was chosen as the winner of the ‘Dear George’ competition for family carers.

Peggy and her husband Michael won a week-long holiday worth €2,000, with live-in care provided by Home Instead Senior Care for their son Keith (35 ) who has cerebral palsy.

“We are caring for our son Keith who has lots of needs. We are looking forward to the time away,” said Peggy.

A spokesperson for Home Instead said they were “blown away” by the response to the competition, which ran on George Hook’s show The Right Hook on Newstalk.

“Peggy along with her husband Michael care for their son Keith who has cerebral palsy and has high dependent care needs which means he requires 24/7 care. His happy disposition and beautiful smile do not go unnoticed by those around him and are a real testament to the love and care Peggy and Michael show Keith every day.”
