Local bike club looks to break world record

Local club, the Midland Motorcycle Club, which is based in Moate, is looking to break a world record next weekend.

The club will travel to Mullingar on Saturday August 4 at noon to attempt to create a Gunniess World Record for assembling the largest number of motorcycles on a bridge at the same time.

The motorcyclists will descend on the Joe Dolan Bridge during the Joe Dolan Festival. The bridge has the capacity to hold some 2,000 motorcycles so everyone with a motorbike is asked to come along on the day to help, no matter if it’s a Harley or a Honda 50 everyone is welcome.

The bikes will parade through the town after the attempt. There will be a designated area in the town centre for the bikes to park to allow the public to come and show their support and view the bikes up close.
