Roscommon Arts Centre hosts a talk and discussion with Leitrim-based artist Christine Mackey on Saturday December 6 from 3pm to 4.30pm.
This artist-only talk coincides with the current show at Roscommon Arts Centre of selected works from the collection of Limerick City Gallery of Art. This exhibition of contemporary Irish art features a selection from 10 prominent Irish artists and presents Sewing Stories by Christine Mackey.
During this talk and discussion Mackey will present work from AFTER, Riverwork(s ) Sligo, and New Sites New Fields/ Leitrim Sculpture Centre.
Mackey’s practice repositions the interdisciplinary activity of ‘drawing’ to the field of politics, social formations, and as a historical and geographical mode of research, what Heidegger describes as the tekhne, which is the bringing forth, and to reveal through the act of making.

She has participated in international and national residencies in Costa Rica, IMMA and the Firestation Artists Studios (Dublin ), India, Wales, Finland, Greece, and Vienna, and was recently selected for RIAA in Argentina (2009 ).
