Roscommon-based artist Marcin Pliszka features in the second of a series of summer exhibitions by local artists in Roscommon Arts Centre this July. Curator Emer McGarry of The Model, Sligo has selected work by Roscommon-based artists and exhibitions this summer include work by David J. Pierce, Marcin Pliszka, Lucy Brennan Shiel, Claudia Keegan, Stephen Bond, Margo McNulty, and Emer O’Connor.
The second of these exhibitions featuring work by Marcin ‘Bon’ Pliszka opens this Friday July 6 from 5.30-7pm. All are welcome to the opening and the exhibition continues until July 20, where members of the public are welcome to call into Roscommon Arts Centre during centre opening hours. Titled Stencil’s Point of View this exhibition asks “Is it possible that the long process of creating gives the artist greater satisfaction than the final effect?” This is an exhibition of artworks where the brush has been replaced with spray paint and a pretty model with fish. You are welcome to an exhibition of works which were created in the stencil technique.
Marcin ‘Bon’ was born in 1985 in Poland, and currently lives in Roscommon. He paints graffiti by using spray paint in stencil technique. He paints on all materials from canvases and boards to metal plates. One of the most popular series of stencils Marcin has created is that showing the fish. All stencils are cut by him using a scalpel focusing on precision and accuracy.
