Only last week this column brought news of Gary Connaughton’s decision to head Stateside for the summer to play football and secure employment. Unfortunately the big Tubberclair man could be on home soil sooner than he planned to be after breaking his ankle in two places. The injury occurred in the first five minutes of his first game with The Wolfe Tones club in Boston, as he advanced to clear a ball. Football really can be cruel.
