Olé Olé Olé Olé for Midlands Simon fundraiser

As Ireland gears up for Euro 2012 fever, the Midlands Simon Community is delighted to have received a generous donation to assist its fundraising efforts - in the guise of Republic of Ireland star Glenn Whelan’s jersey which he wore in the Republic of Ireland vs Russia Euro Qualifier match in October 2010. Glenn has also kindly autographed the jersey, which will be first prize in a raffle to be held in aid of Midlands Simon.

Chairperson of Westmeath Friends of Simon, Mary Doyle, said, “We are so proud that Glenn Whelan chose to honour Midlands Simon Community and its fundraising endeavours with this donation. What a great opportunity for someone to win a piece of Irish soccer history, while helping to provide a range of vital services to those who are at risk of, or who are experiencing homelessness across the counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, and the wider region.”

CEO of Midlands Simon Community Tony O’Riordan added, “We are absolutely thrilled to have received this donation from an international star, which is further proof of the fantastic ongoing support MSC receives from the wider community. This raffle provides a wonderful opportunity for us to show our support for the Boys in Green, while assisting Midlands Simon Community’s fundraising efforts.”

The raffle tickets, priced at €5, are available from the Midlands Simon Community at (090 ) 6444641 or (087 ) 9925083, the Simon shop at (090 ) 6476577, and Midlands Simon Community volunteers at (087 ) 2256325. Photographs of the jersey are on the Midlands Simon Community Facebook page.

The draw will take place after the Spain vs Republic of Ireland match on Thursday June 14 in Seán’s Bar, Athlone. All funds raised will go directly to support those who are homeless, or are at risk of homelessness within the Midlands.
