Enjoy fun, games, and music with your friends at Facefest

A new festival has been born from the idea of reconnecting with friends from the past, that you haven’t seen in a long time. Simply put it’s a chance to meet your friends in reality.

The festival, which takes place in Charleville Castle, Tullamore on June 16, gives you a chance to meet your friends, catch up, play games, listen to some great live music, and generally have a fun-filled weekend with the people you love.

This is the first year of Facefest and it is being run entirely through volunteers. There is a limit of 3,000 tickets available for Facefest with free camping.

This family friendly festival promises plenty of activities around the castle grounds with music being performed live all day from 12pm until midnight.

Facefest came from a conversation on Facebook in February this year. Ian and Ally O’Flynn were talking about the irony of Facebook, designed as a social network yet so many people actually never meet up in reality. So with the help of friends and fellow volunteers, Facefest was born. “What would be better than sending a YouTube videos of a band you like to a friend on Facebook? Bringing the band to Facefest and enjoying them live with your friends,” said Ally O’Flynn.

Tickets are priced at €15 for adults, and children accompanied by an adult go free. €10 of the entry fee is membership of Charleville Castle heritage trust and therefore, all visitors become Castle Friends. The monies raised at Facefest will all go towards the restoration of the chapel roof in Charleville Castle which is in grave need of protection.

Alcohol for members is on a bring your own basis. Nobody under the age of 18 will be permitted into Facefest with alcohol.

Music on the day comes from The Aftermath, Sircles, and Crown Black Chicken to name but a few.
