In his five decade broadcasting career, Gay Byrne hosted the Late Late from 1962 to 1999 and was the first presenter to ever interview The Beatles on TV. He is recognised as “the man who changed Ireland”, both on his RTÉ morning radio show and the weekly Late Late Show where he introduced Ireland to modernity.
