Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Justin Lowry as general manager of the hotel.
Justin has 17 years’ experience in the hospitality sector. Born and bred in Dublin, Justin stayed true to his roots and, having graduated from a hotel management degree in DIT in 1995, he went on to become sales and marketing manager at the capital’s centrally located Temple Bar Hotel, before being promoted to group sales manager for the Tower Hotel Group.
His first general manager role was at Hotel Isaacs in 2003 where Justin spent more than eight years. His impressive work within that position and commitment to the company was rewarded with a promotion to group general manager in June 2008.
His new role at Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone is Justin’s first away from his much-loved home city, and he’s incredibly excited about the challenges ahead and working in such a well-known property with plenty of potential.
“All of my focus is on Radisson Blu Athlone now, I want to see the property grow and thrive and command its rightful place as one of the best hotels in the Midlands,” he said.
“We have plenty of exciting plans ahead, kicking off with launching the summer barbeques. We are also developing new menus for both Elements restaurant and the Quayside Bar, with tasty, locally sourced, quality ingredients. Using our wonderful waterside location to host memorable weddings and our top facilities attracting plenty of meetings and events, it’s all go for us here!”
But one of Justin’s first challenges as GM will be taking part in the upcoming triAthlone this June, during which the swim race goes right past his place of work. Last year the father-of-two competed in a number of sprint triathlons before discovering adventure racing. He came in the top 15 per cent of the Killarney Adventure Race - a gruelling 67 kilometres - and is about to start swim training in the Shannon for the triAthlone shortly.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone is delighted to welcome Justin as a key member and contributor to the team at the town’s prestigious hotel.
