Have you had your ‘15 minutes’?

Have you ever listened to the radio and thought “I could do that”? Are you part of a group that works in the community? Or are you involved in a business or organisation you would like to promote? Now is your chance.

Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm and Midlands Simon Community have joined forces to help raise funds in a unique and fun way.

From Thursday June 14 at noon until midnight on Friday June 15, a “broadcast marathon” will take place in the studios of Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm. For a donation of just €50 any individual, business, or community organisation can have their ‘15 minutes of fame’.

Use the time to show off your talent, sing, or talk about your business or group. Or simply use the time to tell the world about something that interests you. It is a unique opportunity.

All proceeds from the broadcast will be used to support the work of Midlands Simon Community and Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm.

Development officer with Midlands Simon, Cormac P Lally, said “We are delighted to be associated with this fantastic initiative, and Athlone Community Radio. It is a great way for people to showcase their talents or to highlight their business in a fun way that benefits very vulnerable and marginalised people.”

Manager of Athlone Community Radio, Mary Lennon, said “We are delighted to be involved with this venture with such a worthy organisation as the Midlands Simon Community. Volunteers James Barry and Odran Fitzgerald will be behind the mics for a marathon 36 hours, with back-up from all volunteers and staff at the studios. In addition volunteers will be seeking sponsorship and will be around with sponsorship cards over the next few weeks.”

Athlone Community Radio broadcasts on 88.4fm and on www.athlonecommunityradio.ie from their studios in Parnell Square.
