Classical and modern music lovers unite for Onyx Brass

Onyx Brass is a world-class British quintet which has charmed audiences around the world with its virtuosity, exuberance, and on-stage banter.

On Wednesday April 25 they will perform at the Mullingar Arts Centre, playing a programme of classical favourites alongside new works by contemporary composers, as well as a new work commissioned for Onyx Brass by composer Andrew Hamilton called Two Slow Phrases Piece.

The Onyx Brass ensemble has bedazzled audiences and critics alike. Their mission is to present the brass quintet as a serious medium for chamber music, with a special interest in bringing new works to the widest possible audience.

The quintet consists of top-notch players with principal positions in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of English National Opera, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. But the secret to their success lies in their utterly infectious enthusiasm for the repertoire and their ability to charm and educate their audiences in equal measure. This is a concert for lovers of classical and contemporary music at its finest. All doubters, prepare to be converted!
