Discount retailer Euro General has announced plans to open stores in Athlone and Roscommon in the coming months.
The new stores are part of an expansion plan which will see the company open eight new stores across the country, with the creation of 70 new jobs.
The stores will open before July in Athlone, Roscommon, Portlaoise, Dublin, Cork, and Nenagh, and will bring to 70 the total number of stores in the chain. Some 12 of these have been opened in the past year.
Dublin-based company Euro General operates a network of discount shops across the country including Eurogiant stores, formerly trading as Euro2.
The group is also planning to open a new central warehouse in August to serve its continued expansion.
