Westmeath Community Development through the Rural Development Programme (LEADER ) together with Hilltown Studio Theatre have organised a series of workshops conducted by internationally acclaimed director Paul Meade, founder of Guna Nua Theatre Co, to introduce those who may consider a career in theatre to all aspects of the world of theatre.
At the end of the programme the participants will be in a position to make an informed decision on a career in theatre and to identify the specific areas in which their interest lies.
The workshops will take place over three weekends on Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29, Saturday May 12 and Sunday May 13, and Saturday May 26 and Sunday May 27 at Hilltown Studio Theatre, Hilltown House, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.
The specific subjects covered will be acting, directing, producing, scriptwriting, design, and technical production. The workshops are open to all residents of Westmeath and in order to include all those who are considering theatre as a career choice the workshops are free to all the participants.There will be online follow-up in October when participants will have an opportunity to seek further advice and get details of placements and further courses.
This is a unique opportunity to investigate a career in the arts, an area identified as one of growth and opportunities over the next 10 years. As the course is free places are strictly limited.
