Charity night in aid of Motor Neurone Research

Those wishing to support this weekend’s race night in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Research Group are reminded to get in touch with organisers as soon as possible.

Inspired by RTÉ sports journalist and Moate native Colm Murray who has MND the people of Moate will host a fundraiser for the charity this Saturday March 24 in the Grand Hotel.

Inspired by the recent RTÉ documentary on Colm and his fight with Motor Neurone Disease, locals decided to host a race night to raise much-needed funds for research. All funds raised will be going to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Research Group. And Colm’s bother Cathal will be there on the night to support the cause.

Everyone is welcome to show their support; you can sponsor a race for €10, buy a horse for €20, buy a jockey for €10, or buy a horse and jockey for €30, or why not donate a prize? Everyone is welcome to come along on the night and show their support, all bets are €1. And winning owners will be entered into a draw for cash prizes. There will also be a Best Hat prize and a door raffle; tickets for this cost €2.
