Local community groups and businesses in Moate are being encouraged to come out and support the town’s Easter parade, which takes place on Easter Sunday April 8.
When holding a parade in Moate on St Patrick’s Day proved impossible, organisers decided that instead of cancelling the event altogether they would simply move the celebrations back a few weeks to Easter Sunday.
The committee are now inviting entries from anyone wishing to take part in the parade. They are particularly seeking colourful and/or musical floats to add to the lively line-up for the parade, which already has more than 20 entries including three local marching bands on board.
The parade commences at 4.30pm on Easter Sunday, and musical entertainment and an Easter egg hunt will also take place on the day.
Any local business, community group, club, or sporting organisation interested in taking part in the parade, or anyone who would like more information on the event, is asked to contact Annette at (087 ) 2393548 or Terry at (087 ) 2193204.
