A seminar exploring arts, health, and young children’s early years will take place on Friday March 30 in Mullingar. Westmeath County Council Arts Office is hosting the event in association with Westmeath-based arts and health company Helium Arts.
Creative Connections will present a continuous professional development opportunity for professionals across the arts, health, and early years sectors interested in investigating the role of the arts in supporting very young children aged between 0-3 years, and their parents. The seminar is aimed at professional artists, healthcare workers, and early years specialists.
Arts officer for Westmeath County Council, Catherine Kelly, says “This is an excellent opportunity for artists across disciplines to benefit from peer exchange and learning as well as developing networking prospects for future projects.”
The role of the arts in supporting very young children and their parents will be discussed with leading practitioners from Ireland and Europe including Catherine Maguire, president of the Irish Association for Infant Mental Health, senior clinical psychologist and infant mental health specialist, and Ruth Churchill Dower, director Earlyarts UK and founding member of the Cultural Learning Alliance and the National Early Years Strategy Group for Youth Music.
This seminar takes place in the Council Chamber, County Buildings, Mullingar on Friday March 30 from 1.30-4.30pm. The seminar is free, but booking is required.
On Saturday March 31 from 9.45am-5.30pm a separate artists workshop will take place to coincide with the event in Mullingar.
