Volunteers from the Athlone Daffodil Day committee attended the launch of this year’s Daffodil Day which was held in the Aviva Stadium recently.
Groups from around the country gathered for the event which celebrated Irish Cancer Society’s 25th anniversary.
Daffodil Day will take place on March 23 and volunteers are needed to give an hour or two at the various centres around the town. People are also encouraged to consider organising collections in work and school and fundraising has already taken place with students from Athlone Community College raising €200 for the Irish Cancer Society by organising a teachers vs students football match in December.
Daffodil Day began in 1987 and for the last 25 years people have continued to give generously to Irish Cancer Society’s annual appeal which raises vital funding for night nursing and cancer research.
