Specsavers Athlone are proud supporters of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind

Specsavers Athlone continued to show their ongoing support of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind by holding a fundraising day in store last week. Staff and customers of the store raised over €650 for the charity.

Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind representatives and their dogs stopped by the store to help the staff with their fundraising. To celebrate the in-store activity Specsavers Athlone had face painters on site for the local children and handed out sweets and balloons to all.

Specsavers Athlone raised the much needed funds with thanks to customers who donated very generously on the day. The funds raised will help the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind to provide services to persons who are blind and visually impaired and help families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence.

Speaking at Specsavers Athlone’s Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind fundraising day, store director Keith McCallion said: “We are delighted to have had a visit from the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and appreciate all their help in supporting Specsavers Athlone’s in-store fundraising day. Many thanks to all those who have donated so generously and shown their support. We would like to inform customers that we will be providing free cleaning and servicing to frames this week in return for a small donation fee as we hope to continue raising much needed funds for this organisation throughout 2012.”
